Pacepushin' the Polyphonic Spree

Hoorah!!! I'm very happy to report that yesterday morning I took my dodgy knee out for a run. Admittedly it was only from my house, down to the home of ex wife/partner (no.3) to deliver my little boy's birthday card (the little fella was 11 yesterday), onward to the train station to purchase a ticket for travel to South Chelsea, then out onto the common for a few strides.

That totals only about 3 miles but it's a start. There was a slight bit of pain, particularly on the common, but I think it's something I can work with. One of the good things about running before you get on the train for work is that the aroma of fresh sweat and the threatening bulges created by a tight pair of Tracksters mean the suits that are on their way to their walking dead jobs in the city give you a wide berth.

Anyway, I'm meeting a couple of dudes from work early this morning for a run along the river, so that'll be a further test. Standby for the second running report in a week- Yikes!! This blog will be rivalling John Kynaston's soon at this rate! In fact, maybe there'll be a complete role reversal and John will develop a penchant for strong alcohol, hit the nearest tattoo studio to cover his arms in Old School tatts, stand by impotently while his marriage collapses around him, and erect a Jolly Roger from the roof of his church.

OK......maybe not.

Anyway, I'm also happy to report that, in my recently appropriated guise as West Highland Way Race DJ, I have a request from Neal Gibson AKA Pacepusher. Big Bad Neal has asked for the Polyphonic Spree. Now, my knowledge of this band is limited to Soldier Girl, which I liked enormously when it was released. the song comes with the approval of Brian McIntosh so it must be good. Although an ex-Royal Marine pal of mine (Jim Screech- I've been accused of associating only with people bearing remarkable names) ribbed me relentlessly for liking this particular ditty. Something about 'bunch of weirdo, white robed God botherers.'

Well, thanks for the request, Neal, and thanks for stopping by on the blog. Here you go, mate:

Excellent mate, Thanks!

Good to know that despite the new black attire they still play the old clasics! Tim DeLaughter's as mad as ever live too!

This song always has fond memories for me. It was during a random trip to London to see the Spree that me and Mrs pacepusher decided to get married, and as she is right now 'so far away' in Malawi it was a nice memory provider!

Cheers again, and good to hear you are running again,
